Privacy Policy

What We Collect

WhenDoesItLaunch.com does not require accounts or logins. We collect no personally identifiable information voluntarily submitted by users.

Standard web server access logs (browser type, pages visited, timestamps) are retained for operational purposes — diagnosing errors, preventing abuse, and understanding traffic patterns. These logs are not shared with third parties and are routinely purged.

Analytics

We collect basic, cookieless page visit data to understand how the site is used. No tracking scripts, no third-party analytics services, and no advertising networks are involved. All data is stored on our own server and never sold or shared.

What is recorded per page visit:

• —Page path — the URL visited (e.g. /game/elden-ring)
• —Referrer — the site you came from, if your browser sends one
• —Browser/OS — derived from the standard User-Agent header
• —Language — from your browser or selected site language
• —Hashed visitor ID — your IP address is immediately hashed (SHA-256 with a secret salt) before storage. The raw IP is never written to the database and cannot be recovered.
• —Timestamp

Visits are automatically excluded if your browser sends a Do Not Track (DNT) header. Known bots and automated crawlers are also filtered out.

Cookies

This site sets one first-party cookie:

• — lang — stores your selected display language (e.g. en, es, fr). Only set when you manually choose a language. Contains no personal data, not used for tracking, expires after one year.
• — analytics_optout — set only if you click "Opt out of analytics" above. This cookie prevents tracking — it is not used for tracking. Expires after one year.

Cloudflare Turnstile (our bot-protection service) may set short-lived security cookies (cf_clearance, __cf_bm) strictly necessary for service integrity. No advertising or third-party tracking cookies are used.

Discord Bot

WhenDoesItLaunchBot processes slash commands in Discord. When you use /releasedate, the game name you provide is sent to IGDB to retrieve release date information. We do not log Discord usernames, user IDs, server IDs, or message content beyond the transient processing required to respond to your command. No Discord user data is stored persistently.

Third-Party Services

This site and bot use the following third-party services:

• — IGDB (via Twitch API) — game data provider. Queries include the game name searched. Subject to IGDB's Terms.
• — Microsoft Azure Translator — used to translate game descriptions into supported languages. Text sent for translation is game metadata only, not user data.
• — Steam (Valve) — used to retrieve user review scores for released games. No user data is sent; queries are by game ID only. Subject to Steam's Privacy Policy.
• — Cloudflare — used for DNS, network routing, and bot protection (Turnstile). Subject to Cloudflare's Privacy Policy.

Data Sharing

We do not sell, rent, or share any user data with third parties for commercial purposes. Data is only passed to the third-party services listed above as required to operate the service.

Changes to This Policy

This policy may be updated as the service evolves. Changes will be reflected on this page with an updated date.
